Club Log: Expedition Charts

4W/G3ZEM

Saturday marked the arrival of two further 4W/ operators. Jon K7CO and Ed VE4EAR landed raring to go. Once they recover from the ardours of their journey and the associated jet-lag they will be making hundreds of Qs/hr. Plans foresee them continuing operation long after I have returned to the comforts of home. Those of you holding out for that elusive SSB or data mode contact with Timor Leste now have an opportunity for your desires to be met. Overnight tonight (Sunday) will mark my final operation as 4W/G3ZEM as on Monday I will set about dismantling the station and re-packing ready for an early departure Tuesday morning. My thanks for the many Qs. I am delighted to have had the opportunity to work so many from Timor Leste. Whilst unscheduled power cuts and other local issues have been cause of sudden QRT at times, instance and inconvenience has been minimal. I have had a wonderful time at Caimeo Beach Resort, Liquica. My hosts have been truly amazing. I am in their debt for many things but in particular for their reaction to my predicament when I arrived and my antenna did not. Without their support I may not have got on the air. As it was with antenna wire, feeder and bamboo support sourced I was running a pile only a few hours after arrival. Amazing! Final logs will be uploaded to Clublog and to logbook of the World tomorrow and will be e-mailed to Tim M0URX within a day or two along with some pics from T-L for the QSL cards. Tim will handle log queries and QSLing with his usual impressive efficiency. I am indebted to him for his efforts. Thanks again. 73 Bob, 5B4AGN
